Port Blair, Aug. 24: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,95,947 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,941 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 27, 931 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 2,19,615.

Port Blair, Aug. 24: Seven COVID positive cases have been detected today in A&N Islands of which, one incoming flight passenger who arrived here yesterday was tested positive. Today, 9 flights with 1188 passengers arrived, out of which, 1076 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 79 passengers and the reports are awaited.  

Port Blair, Aug 23: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to start a second shift in JNRM, MGGC (Mayabunder) and ANCOL from 2022-2023 session, so that maximum number of students can get admission in degree programmes and study in their dream subjects in these Islands.

Port Blair, Aug 23: David Beckham, an international cyclist who represented India in Commonwealth Games, 2022, has graciously consented to be ‘Youth Ambassador’ of Andaman & Nicobar Police in the fight against drug abuse and alcoholism. In a simple ceremony held at PHQ on 23rd August, Sh. Neeraj Thakur, IPS, DGP, A&N Islands felicitated him and thanked him for consenting to be the ‘Youth Ambassador’ on behalf of A&N Police.

Port Blair, Aug 23: The CPI (M) has demanded to appoint the waitlisted candidates against the unfilled vacancies of MTS on the basis of the select list and wait-list published by the A&N Administration on 2.3.2019. Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee met the Secretary (Perl) at Secretariat, Port Blair today (23.8.2022) and submitted a letter on this issue.
