Port Blair, May 29: The District Administration continuing its efforts to contain the encroachments over Government land under South Andaman District carried out extensive drives at various places.

During these drives, encroachments in the shape of temporary/permanent structures in the form of shed and retaining wall, trees and saplings over govt. revenue land at Garacharma and Corbyn’s Cove were removed and an area measuring over 600 sqmts. was restored to its original status.

Port Blair, May 29: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute Employees Welfare Association (CIARIEWA) of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair organized a function on 28th June 2024 to bid farewell to Shri. A. Babuswamy, Technical Officer on his superannuation from service and to welcome Shri Kanishk Bhukar, Administrative Officer & Shri G. Prashanth, Finance & Account Officer along with five technicians namely Shri Abhishek Kumar, Smti Savita Kumari, Shri Ujjawal Kumar, Shri Brajesh Kumar & Miss Shivani Kumari on their appointment to ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.

Port Blair, May 28: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services organized a two-day Sterilization Camp at the Veterinary Dispensary at Swaraj Dweep on May 24 & 25, 2024. This initiative aimed to control the stray animal population in the area and promote responsible pet ownership. During the course of the camp, a dedicated team of Senior Veterinary Officers and support staff successfully performed 27 (19 dogs and 8 cats) Animal Birth Control (ABC) operations, which will help in reducing the number of stray animals and mitigate related issues such as overpopulation, spread of diseases, and aggression among animals.

Port Blair, May 28: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Port Blair will be conducting the selection trials in the age group of 10 to 14 years from June 5  to 7, 2024 at SAI Training Centre, Netaji Stadium for inducting athletes into residential and non-residential scheme in the following disciplines.

Port Blair, May 29: The fourth & final round of training to Counting Supervisors, Micro Observers, Counting Assistants and Counting Staff engaged to assist the Returning Officer, A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency in counting of votes for General Election-2024, was held in the DBRAIT auditorium here today. The Counting will take place in JNRM Counting Centre, earmarked for Counting of Votes for the A & N Islands Parliamentary Constituency on June 4, 2024. The Returning Officer, ANIPC, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS visited DBRAIT auditorium and interacted with the Counting Personnel.
