Port Blair, July 7: The Chairman of Congress Campaign Committee Mr. TSG Bhasker has expressed his deep concern over the illegal disposal of plastic and non-biodegradable waste in Andaman & Nicobar Islands by few officers of PBMC, which is having a detrimental impact on the environment and causing pollution.
In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change on Thursday, Mr. Bhasker highlighted the way in which plastic waste amounting to approximately 1 lakh ton have been camouflaged in the Municipal Dump Yard, Brookshabad and covered in earth.

Port Blair, July 7: The Andaman and Nicobar Police Department is proud to announce the successful addition of four highly trained police dogs of Belgian Malinois breed, two each in Explosive and Narcotic Trade, into its Canine Unit after completion of their training from the prestigious National Training Centre for Dogs (NTCD) under the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in Panchkula, Haryana.

Port Blair, July 6: The Directorate of Social Welfare has made a significant stride in promoting the health and well-being of the 32 senior residents at the Old Age Home, Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj. Previously challenged by some health issues, the facility has now received crucial supplies aimed at enhancing the daily lives of its elderly inhabitants.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), expressed his commitment to the seniors, stating that "Our senior citizens are the backbone of our society, and it is our responsibility to ensure they lead a life of dignity and comfort. We are hopeful that these contributions will significantly improve their daily lives and promote better health outcomes."

Port Blair, July 7: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS today visited Wandoor village and interacted with PRI Members of Wandoor, ZP Member, Pradhan GP Wandoor, Samiti Member and GP members and villagers of Wandoor. During the interaction /meeting, the PRI/villagers raised various issues in regard to the development of the area. For the Tourism development, the PRI members urged the Deputy Commissioner for fixing of net fencing in sea beach of New Wandoor, fixing of Solar street lights at New Wandoor Beach, re-starting the Tourism activities of Mawwa Dera and construction of Break Water near Fish Landing Jetty at New Wandoor.
