ZSI to Organise 111 hrs Hackathon in Traditional Knowledge on Biodiversity Conservation in Commemoration of 111 years of ZSI

Sri Vijaya Puram, April 24: In recognition of its invaluable contributions towards faunal studies and biodiversity conservation spanning 111 years, the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) proposes to organize an innovative 111-hour long national-level hackathon that combines traditional knowledge systems with contemporary technological advancements. The objective of this novel hackathon is to integrate traditional wisdom with science to solve contemporary problems related to biodiversity conservation using innovations and policies. This hackathon is to be organized in all 16 Regional Centres of the ZSI including ZSI, Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, A & N Islands.

Theme: Traditional Knowledge in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Eligibility Criteria

1. The participants must be Indian Citizen

2. No Age Bar

3. The team can consist of students, researchers, employed individuals, community people, indigenous people from any discipline

4. Any Indian Language (At least one person in the group should be well versed in English)

5. Each team must have a maximum of three members

6. Valid identification proof must be submitted

7. Each team can only participate in one theme

8. The preliminary round will be conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Regional Centre, ZSI.  Each registered team will get 30 minutes to present their ideas in Level-1 screening; 45 minutes in Level-2 at Dehra Dun and 30 minutes in Grand Finale at ZSI, Kolkata. Presentation will be made by all the three members of the team with equal time share

9. Team may present their work, ideas, concept or knowledge through power point presentation or any other presentation mode
