Campbell Bay, July 5: A three-year-old child with a blocked nostril was brought to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Campbell Bay at 0600 hrs on 03 Jul 24. The on-duty staff discovered a foreign object lodged deep in the nose of the child, posing challenges for removal. Post attempts to remove the foreign body from the nose and discussions by the local civil doctors of PHC, the case was found to be beyond their capability. Therefore, at around 1215 hrs, Surgeon Lt Cdr Naveen Kumar, a surgical specialist of the Indian Navy who was on-duty at the medical camp, was urgently called for assistance by PHC staff. He immediately, rushed to IMS Hospital at Campbell Bay, collected the required surgical instruments, and reached PHC immediately.

Port Blair, July 5: The Andaman & Nicobar Police is proud to announce the successful completion of a 2-weeks comprehensive Coastal Security training program held at the Police Training School, Prothrapur for 307 newly recruited police personnel. Such a collaborative training program is first of its kind for the Andaman & Nicobar Police conducted in association with the esteemed National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP), Okha, Gujarat which is the premier institute tasked with a pivotal role in strengthening the security infrastructure of India's vast coastline.

Campbell Bay, July 5: Headquarters, Andaman and Nicobar Command conducted Phase 2 of the Ex-Servicemen Outreach Programme for veterans residing in Great Nicobar Island from 29 June to 4th July, 2024. The main event was inaugurated by Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, AVSM, VM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) and Smt Latha Saju on 3rd July, 2024 at Community Hall, Campbell Bay.

Port Blair, July 5: The general public have been informed that the Electricity Department is taking various effective measures for improving the power supply in A&N Islands. As a step towards this, relay coordination among all stations for isolating faulty feeders to restrict faults from travelling to power houses / sub-stations was done to prevent grid collapse. Massive HT / LT line clearance in tie lines / feeders was executed through outsource to increase reliability. The Department has installed two hiring plants of 10 MW & 5 MW capacity at Bambooflat under PPA to meet the increasing peak demand. Simultaneously, two Battery Energy Storage projects are in pipeline and are expected to be commissioned by 2026 to deal with grid stability issues and solar intermittency.

Port Blair, July 5: The India Reserve Battalion, Andaman & Nicobar Police, in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services and the Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, successfully organized multi-specialty medical camp and health awareness drive today at the Conference Hall of IRBn(HQ), Port Mout.

The expert medical team, led by Medical Officer Dr. Vivek Saini, included Dr. Mohammed Irshad (Junior Resident, Orthopedics), Dr. Saurav Singh (Junior Resident, Ophthalmology), and Shri Supreet Meher (Audiologist, ENT) and provided comprehensive medical consultations and treatments, which received an enthusiastic response from the community. With over 200 personnel & their family members benefited from the initiative addressing various health concerns.
