A&N Police Destroys Huge Quantity of Seized Drugs Worth Rs. 475 Crores

Port Blair, June 26: The Andaman and Nicobar Police observed a week of impactful events culminating in the commemoration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, 2024. Throughout the week, various initiatives and awareness campaigns were organized across educational institutions and government establishments, emphasizing the critical importance of staying away from drugs.

Kamorta, June 26: In response to a critical blackout situation on Katchal Island, INS Kardip of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) mobilized resources to aid the community. Assistant Commissioner Nancowry and the Andaman Electricity Department (AED) sought assistance for the transfer of a Diesel Alternator and accessories to Katchal Island, due to issues with the Diesel Generator (DG) available at Katchal.

Port Blair, June 26: Coast Guard Component of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) conducted an Inaugural Ab-Initio Maritime Training Programme for newly recruited Police Marine Force (PMF) personnel of Andaman and Nicobar.  The seven-week extensive training which was carried out from 01 May to 19 Jun 2024, aimed to enhance operational capabilities and maritime proficiency of the police recruits, concluded with an impressive valedictory function.

Port Blair, June 26: In response to increasing traffic congestion and heavy traffic movement in the Junglighat area, the A&N Traffic Police has proposed the implementation of a one-way system on several key link roads at Junglighat. In this regard, a meeting with the residents (along these roads) was held on June 21, 2024 where they appreciated the initiative and extend their support.

The proposed one-way system will be on trial basis from 01.07.2024 on the following link roads:

Port Blair, June 26: The Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized an Elocution Competition on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at School of Nursing, Port Blair. More than 40 participants participated in the competition. The theme for the competition was ‘Drug Abuse and its Prevention’.

The programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A&N AIDS Control Society with the support of Dr. Shiny Varghese, Principal Nursing School, Port Blair.
