Port Blair, Aug 16: A delegation of CITU Andaman & Nicobar State Committee comprising R. Surendran Pillai, President, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, D. Ayyappan, Vice President and SP Kalairajan, Secretary today (16.08.2023) met the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Islands at his chamber and discussed about the issues relating to the daily rated mazdoors working in the Forest Department. A letter from CITU was also submitted to the PCCF on the occasion. 

Diglipur, Aug 15: Joining the Nation, the rural Model Senior Secondary School at Sitanagar too celebrated the 77th Independence Day with fervor and gaiety. Around 500 students assembled in the morning and took out Prabhat Pheri from the school campus, making rounds of the village, shouting slogans and holding placards, transcending the messages of “Panch-Pran”, coined by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The villagers were welcoming the long procession of students, standing alongside the road. On their return, the National flag was hoisted. The Head of Institution administered the oath of ‘Panch-Pran’ to the staff, students and the villagers, which includes ‘Making India a developed country’, ‘Root out the traces of colonial mindset’, ‘Take Pride in our Heritage’, ‘To strive for National Unity’ and ‘To discharge duties honestly, keeping Nation first’.

Diglipur, Aug 16: On 16.08.2023 the anti-poaching team consisting of ASI B.S Halder, HC V. Saji, and PCs Subrata Biswas & Jaspal Singh was on its way to search for foreign poachers in the mangroves and creek area of Loha Tikrey, Khari Nallah where they were suspected to be hidden. Suddenly, the team noticed some movement of the poachers and the team got an alert from ASI B.S Halder. On seeing the Police team the poachers tried to escape into the dense jungle. The team fired warning shots to stop them but they vanished into the jungle. The team courageously followed and rounded them, resulted in apprehension of 03 poachers successfully.

Port Blair, Aug 16: The team of Police Station Pahargaon has once again proved its mettle in the ongoing war against Drugs and has booked a person under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 resulting in recovery 120 grams of Illicit Ganja.

On 10/08/2023, credible information was received at PS Pahargaon from Delhivery Courier Office, Garacharma that a suspicious parcel in the name of Ramesh Gosh was received at their Courier Office which is being suspected of containing some illicit ganja.
