Port Blair, July 10: The Member of Parliament, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Defence Minister of India to conduct regular recruitment rallies in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In a letter written to the Defence Minister of India, the Member of Parliament said that a considerable number of youths from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands have demonstrated their unwavering commitment by serving or presently serving in the various ranks and levels of our esteemed defence forces. In the past Andaman & Nicobar Islands witnessed multiple recruitment rallies conducted throughout the year in the Islands, catering to different wings and specialized fields.

Port Blair, July 10: Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency participated in National Fish Farmers Day 2023 Meet today at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu chaired by Shri Parshottam Rupala Hon’ble Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India along with Shri Sanjeev Balyan, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries and Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

Port Blair, July 10: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) under the distinguished leadership of President M. Vinod and Sumit Mallick made a significant mark at the 67th Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) convention held in Colombo from July 6 to July 8. The convention, attended by prominent industry professionals from India and Sri Lanka proved to be a hub of networking, knowledge exchange and partnership building.

Port Blair, July 10: General Anil Chauhan PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff accompanied by Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan AVSM, VM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) visited INS Kohassa in Andaman and Nicobar Command’s northern AoR on 10 Jul 23. He reviewed the operational preparedness of the Base. Enroute, the CDS was apprised of the importance of strategically situated Northern Group of islands.

Port Blair, July 10: CPI (M) has demanded to restore the water supply at Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas to the pre-curtailment period when water was supplied on alternate days.  In a letter sent to the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee stated that the water supply to the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman areas was curtailed in the month of April - May, 2023 with the dip in the water level at Dhanikhari Dam during the summer season.  With the arrival of the south-west monsoon, the water level in the Dhanikhari Dam has risen considerably, touching 59 metres on 10th July, 2023.
