
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 26: On the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse, a student rally was organized under the week-long Anti-Drug Programme by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration. The rally started from the National Memorial Cellular Jail and concluded at the State Library, Middle Point.
More than 120 students from various schools of Sri Vijaya Puram actively participated in the rally. Holding placards with strong messages and raising anti-drug slogans, the students encouraged the general public to join hands in the effort to eliminate drug use from society.
The rally was flagged off by Shri Jitender Kumar Meena, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID), from the main gate of Cellular Jail. Shri Vikram Singh, Director of Education, graced the occasion and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and teachers. Shri Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director Education (Sc.), Shri Irshad Ahmed, Assistant Director (Sports) and representatives from various NGOs were also present to support the initiative.
As part of the ongoing week-long programme, Day-4 also featured an interactive session titled ‘Voices of Children’, involving students, officials from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, and a Psychologist from the Directorate of Health Services. Students took the opportunity to ask questions and share their concerns on issues related to drug use and its prevention.
Another important session featured an inspirational talk by a person in recovery from drug addiction, who shared his personal journey and motivated students to make positive life choices.
On June 27, the programme will continue with ‘Movie Day’, during which students will participate in rapping, reels, and meme-making competitions. A special session on movie-making techniques is also scheduled, encouraging students to use creative media to spread awareness on the harmful effects of drugs.
