
Sri Vijaya Puram, May 8: The Andaman and Nicobar Archives has initiated their first outreach programme aimed at connecting archives with the wider community, enhancing visibility, usage, and relevance of archival resources. These programmes are designed to make archives more accessible and engaging through social media presence, community events, educational initiatives, and record acquisition efforts. The overarching goal is to foster a sense of shared history and promote the importance of archival research.
Under the valuable guidance and direction of Dr. Chandra Bhusan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, the A&N Archives conducted its inaugural outreach programme for the students of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) today. The initiative aimed to introduce students to the significance of archival research and the rich history of the emerald Islands.
Smti Smitha R, IAS, Secretary (Archives), in her address, encouraged the students to visit the A&N Archives for their academic studies and to undertake research on the history of the Islands, particularly during the pre- and post-independence periods.
Earlier, Shri Satinder Kumar Dubey, Assistant In-Charge (AIC), delivered the introductory address, followed by an interactive session led by Shri P. Senpagaraja, HGC.
The programme was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate students of History and Political Science from JNRM.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. R.V.R. Murthy, Head of the Department of History, JNRM, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. N. Balakrishnan, Head of the Department of Political Science, JNRM.
