Port Blair, Aug. 2: The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri. Rupesh Kumar Thakur, Shri. Amit Kumar Pamasi, Assistant Commissioner (Settlement) and revenue officials of the District Administration visited Indira Nagar in Manglutan Village and had a meeting with PRIs and general public of the area today.

During the campaign, some basic issues such as non-regularization of encroached land and non-issue of Record of Right (RoR) to licencees of Indira Nagar De-Reserved Block were brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman. It was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner (SA) by the revenue field functionaries that the tenants were in excess occupation of land other than their recorded land, which was the main reason for non-issuance of the Record of Rights to the tenants. The DC has thus directed the field staff to demarcate the excess land and take over the excess possession to which the tenants have also agreed. It was also assured by the DC that after completion of re-survey the ROR would be issued to all the tenants.

After the meeting Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman inspected the village road of Indira Nagar to Manglutan School, which is a katcha road and in a very bad shape. It was brought to the knowledge of DC that construction of road could not be taken up as 450 meters of stretch is recorded in the name of some private persons. In this regard Deputy Commissioner S/A directed Tehsildar, Ferrargunj to hold meeting and sort out the issue.
